Richard is a senior Systems Change Strategist, a certified Project Manager (PMP), and has his Doctor of Education degree from the University of Calgary. Richard’s researched focused on senior leadership team adaptability within Alberta Health Services. Richard’s work led to a deep understanding of complexity, systems thinking, and building adaptive capacity. Richard came to fully understand, and appreciate, the importance of systems thinking as we work to adapt to a post-pandemic world, solve the wicked problems we face every day, and work to improve our mental, spiritual, and emotional health.
Trudy is a life-long learner and teacher of instrumental music including concert band, jazz band, small ensembles, and guitar. Trudy plays trumpet in many groups and as a soloist, and plays String Bass as well. Her main career has been teaching with various school boards including the Calgary Board of Education. Her other habits and hobbies are in sports, including Karate and Self Defense. Trudy is also active in the community as a volunteer Board member and contributes to various musical ensembles. One of the main themes that connects music and sports for Trudy, is leadership and team play. The other is to become totally engaged. Competition is included in striving to reach the highest level of mastery you are capable of, while still being part of a team. Helping others to reach a high level is very important to Trudy. Being part of the CRCBA is an exciting addition for Trudy as her teaching and learning journey continues. Increasing your own abilities and to help others is very important and satisfying.
Karis is a Research Associate at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine with four years of experience conducting studies on topics such as health services and health policy. Passionate about using graphic design to enhance knowledge translation, Karis develops engaging and understandable research materials. Further, Karis helps maintain her team's website and social media presence, spreading the word about new publications, grants, and other newsworthy updates.
Andrew is currently a Team Lead with a leading lumber mill in Grand Prairie, Alberta. Andrew has an extensive background in business and has put these skills to use in many ways including being a founding member of the LDK Foundation. The LDK Foundation provides programs focusing on providing children and youth leadership skills through sport and music. Now Andrew is excited to put his business skills to use as a founding member of the Canadian Research Center for Building Adaptability.
Deb’s passion for research spans over 20 years while working with adult and pediatric clinical research units in Calgary, AB. Always looking for ways to improve research processes, being adaptable has become an essential part of her work. Deb also enjoys time with her family of four (plus a couple of fur babies) and keeps busy performing music with several ensembles.
Monica has been an independent consultant since 2010. Monica has experience as both a project manager and an organizational change management advisor. Monica has over a decade of experience on complex transformational projects in IT, energy, and education. Monica’s education includes a background in management information systems, a degree in psychology, PMP certification, Prosci change management, and Mount Royal University change management. Monica is currently consulting for TC Energy as a Program Change Management advisor working on a variety of cybersecurity initiatives. Monica is excited to be a part of the founding of the CRCBA.
